What do you listen to? To what are you attuned? In the barrage of noise competing for our attention in the city, who is it who can resist, and hold their centre? What does it take to nurture our inner ear, when even at a cellular level, the body becomes a conduit for transmission, a chamber for travelling electro-magnetic waves, both the audible and inaudible? An Inner Ear imagines the interiority of our form as a maze of sounds both generated from and passing through the living, watery body. Specifically using early digital technologies and pre-smart phone noise, the piece describes an audioscape not entirely bereft of peace, yet susceptible to every data packet in the atmosphere.

The body-less travelling sound art show, Le Son 7 opened with my piece (flyer below) in London during Frieze 2022, and now tours to Berlin with three new artists Marina Abramovic, Laurie Anderson and Miranda July. We will hold a listening session in Berlin (as detailed on this link) listening my pieceAn Inner Ear”, in discussion with the audience. I’ll also hold a workshop and perform my sonic-story-telling piece “What You Listen To” at Berlin’s The School of Machines during the day.
