Recently looking at spaces between, and lines as a method of bypassing determinacy in composition. Inspiration in flow and cut. I took these pictures over the past two weeks in Middle East and North Africa. We were struck by the work of Palestinian pioneer Salma Halaby which we saw by chance at the Ayyam Gallery, on the first floor, were early experiments with early computers which Chris and I both loved and recognised from our own histories. In the hotel in Tunisia where we were later working on radio projects, I saw many of the forms reemerge to me in these photographs I try to record that link from the pile of pens and pencils to the palm leaves and Tunisian tiles and lightshades in the hotel.
