How have I been broadcasting from Frieze since 2006 when we had a transmission radio booth in there? Two programmes about this year’s Frieze London art fair. In part 1 I’m joined by critic and curator Pierre d’Alancaisez for reflection, guesswork and a series of quick-fire interviews. These feature Alys Williams, director at Vitrine Gallery, London showing artist Kara Chin; fair visitor artist and provocateur Michael Seri of Detritus Designs NY; an anonymous story about “The Kiss at Kusama”; an interview with ChertLüdde Gallery, Berlin and Galerie Tanja Wagner, Berlin showing Šejla Kamerić; and a longer chat with London-based artist Larry Achiampong about his solo installation with Copperfield London Gallery, from their Frieze booth.
In part two I speak with artist Adam Farah-Saad at Public Gallery (the entire Frieze booth acquired by Tate); educator and artist Nicholas Ferguson (Kingston University); critic and curator Pierre D’Alancaissez; and Daria, a Frieze tour operator. At 1:54 I interviews Daniele Marella son of the owner at Primo Marella Gallery, Italy; Nadia Amor, director of Galerie d’art L’Atelier 21, Casablanca, Morocco; and Spier Arts Trust, a fantastic not-for-profit arts project from South Africa.
